Fire accident occurred at Shin-Etsu Handotai’s Shirakawa Plant
At 9:07 a.m. on November 12, 2019, a fire accident occurred at the location of an auxiliary equipment at the Shirakawa Plant of Shin-Etsu Handotai Co. Ltd., Shin-Etsu Chemical’s 100%-owned subsidiary company, located in Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture (Plant General Manager Ichiro Onozawa).
We want to deeply apologize to all the people concerned for causing them worries due to this fire accident.
・Regarding injuries
Two members of the staff have been injured as a result of this accident.
・Location of the fire, and the situation concerning plant operations
The location of the fire was at a production auxiliary equipment, and operations in a part of this auxiliary equipment were stopped; however, the production line is continuing to operate as usual.
・Cause of the fire
The cause of this fire is under investigation.
