Shin-Etsu Chemical produces high-purity chloromethane using its own original reaction technology and refining technology. Methylene chloride is one variety of chloromethane and was used as the base for developing "Shin-Etsu SOLEANA," which is used as a cleaning agent for metals and precision instruments and a cleaning solvent for molds for plastic parts.

Methanol is the simplest alcohol in structure, so it is used in antifreeze, solvents and dissolvents, and also as a chemical reagent in the production of many organic chemical compounds. Methanol is also used to produce cellulose derivatives.

A low-pollution vehicle, using methanol as its fuel. It reduces the amount of NOx emitted by about half as compared with diesel vehicles.

Caustic soda is produced by electrolysis of industrial salt, and is widely used in the chemical industry as a basic material. It is used in products we use frequently in daily life such as synthetic textiles, paper and pulp, soap, and food. Much is also used in the inorganic chemical products field.

Caustic soda is used in producing soluble pulp, and as a raw material in paper products.
