I deeply apologize, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone, including the local area’s residents, for all the great trouble and anxiety caused by the explosion and subsequent fire accident at the cellulose derivatives manufacturing facility of Shin-Etsu Chemical’s Naoetsu Plant.

In our company’s business operations, we have placed safety as our foremost priority before anything else. Nevertheless and regrettably, this kind of accident has occurred. I am truly sorry.

We will do our best to take care of those persons who were injured in this accident and are now receiving medical treatment at hospitals, and we will do our utmost to support their families in this difficult time. We will also do our best to assist the local residents who were inconvenienced by the need for an emergency evacuation and in other ways.
